Partial view of the exterior of a gorgeous Hindu temple.

This is one of a new series of photos I shot recently. More photos from this series to be uploaded very soon.

This is BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir a traditional Hindu place of worship.
They are located in Chino Hills, California. Their website is: www.bapschinohills.org/ or for more info on the sect: baps.org/

This photo can't be used for profit or commercial use -- this is specified by the temple. I DO NOT HAVE a property release for this photo!

I know, I was just amazed at the intricate carvings on the building. I had never seen such incredible work done in such a large scale before. :)

Amazing.  Do you know how old it is, like when it was constructed?

Actually the temple is not that old. You can learn more about it's history and construction if you visit the temples web site at www.bapschinohills.org

This is BAPS Swaminarayan temple. I'm follower of this sect.
Here is our website: baps.org/
There are around 800 temples like this around the world.
www.akshardham.com/ is the largest Hindu temple of the world.

However, this is beautiful photograph! :)

Thanks so much dear friend. I really was in awe with all the lovely engraving on the building. All the wonderful detail was done by hand by master craftsmen and artists.

I will relate a funny story to you regarding my photo session at the temple: I was so in awe of the beauty and intricacy of the work on the building that I was there for a full 30 minutes trying to capture it all down on film from different angles. I guess the temple authorities did not like me taking so many photos so I was asked very kindly to leave! They informed me that no commercial photography was allowed. I very nicely explained that I was definitely not a professional photographer, and I was not taking the photos for commercial use. They then looked at the type of camera I was using and said that I was not allowed to take any more photos. I was planning to take my daughter there so she could enjoy the beauty of the place, but I think I may be on their do not allow to visit list. I guess that's I what I get for being slightly obsessive in my photo taking! :(

I've faced similar issues at the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument, the officials told me I was not allowed to take pictures on my tripod :(

Hi Lori!!
I must say that even a partial display of this building is truly spectacular as I'm sure that it presented it's own challenges in capturing it's essence which you did very well!! :w00t:  Very good work Lori!!
